My notes:
28 october
It was a captivating process to get acquainted with Godot by setting this week-challenge for myself. As I got to understand more of the engine I kept seeing new possibilities. I think in the end I ended up with something that feels more like a demonstration of what I've learned then an actual game. It was important to me to wrap something up by the end of the week and despite it being a rather short and simple game I am happy with how it turned out. As the week progressed I noticed I was leaning on my strengths to crutch where I lacked strength. In this case I spend some extra time making it visually look better, while knowing I couldn't make it play better (yet!) in the limited time I gave myself. The stage the game is in now, in time of writing right after the initial week, feels like a good steppingstone into thinking critically about actual gamedesign.
I hope to find my voice as a gamedesigner as I embark on this new journey, using the rememberance of all that gaming has brought me in my lifespan thus far. I am very grateful for the accessibility of software like Godot and platforms like itch.io.~
